The Amato Opera

Full Frame Audience Award Feature 2001

NEW DOCS

This unforgettable film goes into the world of committed, enthusiastic love on two levels. The Amatos’s love of opera leads them to found and sustain the tiny Amato Opera House in Manhattan. Tony’s almost manic energy is balanced by Sally’s smiling, calm accompaniment as they orchestrate every aspect of the productions—direction, training, costumes, even feeding the cast. But this is also the story of their mutual love, which spills over into the Opera House and the lives of all who work with them.
