The Bridge Man
NEW DOCS
The sound of “Claire de Lune” being played gently on the piano provides the atmosphere and wordless sentiment for The Bridge Man, a short film that explores the death of a beloved wife from the perspective of the husband who has been left behind. Surrounded by family photographs and feminine mementos, the Bridge Man inhabits a domestic space made profound by his wife’s absence. A cross-cultural narrative plays through the film, as the African American husband finds solace in his Japanese wife’s Buddhist faith walking from his Bedford Stuyvesant home to the Buddhist church where people gather together in prayer.
