The Fight

Invited

Four timely and wrenching narratives convey the on-the-ground battles of five American Civil Liberties Union lawyers who work tirelessly to defend human rights on a daily basis. Whether fighting for reproductive or voting rights, for a transgender soldier trying to keep his job, or to reunite a parent and child separated at the border, these underappreciated warriors of the courtroom persevere, often at personal cost. Closely following these characters reveals the extensive and intricate layers of preparation each case requires, but also the missed family birthdays, shrinking social lives, and severe emotional strain involved in fighting for justice for so many. Despite the hardships, these refreshingly honest and bitingly intelligent people relish the chance to celebrate each other’s successes, brush off their hate mail, and share their powerful convictions about the work they do. The film’s message is clear—there is a daunting increase in lawsuits and only so many lawyers, but we all have the power to join the fight.  KR
