The Last Painting

NEW DOCS

In his studio in the serene English countryside, an aging painter meticulously replicates a photograph from his American past. The seasons outside change in tandem with the accumulation of strokes on the canvas panorama inside, and we witness a man living in reverie, flipping through photographic slides from an earlier time with joy etched across his lined face. Without dialogue, the camera tracks each deliberate movement of a focused and calm artist finishing his final creative endeavor within the consoling studio space he has inhabited for decades. This luminous short film examines the intrinsic desire to create and its deep ties to one’s identity.  KR
