The Panola Project

NEW DOCS

With a population of 350, Panola is a rural, predominantly Black town in Alabama, where the Covid-19 pandemic has taken its toll. The closet vaccination site is 39 miles away, and many people have no means of transportation. The Panola Project follows the extraordinary efforts of resident Dorothy Oliver to protect her community. The proprietor of a convenience store, Oliver is determined to get as many of Panola’s residents vaccinated as possible, working person by person, conversation by conversation, obstacle by obstacle, to make this a reality. In documenting these frank and meaningful dialogues, this inspiring film highlights the power of personal engagement and the difference that one person can make.  ER
