Trapped

NEW DOCS
Doctor Willie Parker drives state-to-state to see patients at abortion clinics where red tape is obstructing medical practice. Targeted Regulation of Abortion Providers, so-called TRAP laws, aim to shut down access by issuing administrative restrictions that range from mandating lighting specifications and appointment paperwork to requiring unnecessary medication inventory and physician vetting. Frequently unable to meet the requirements, clinics are forced to close either temporarily or permanently. Those that do manage to stay open struggle with the resources required to accommodate these demands as well as the growing list of patients for whom the clock is ticking. Director Dawn Porter (Gideon’s Army) documents an inspiring group of determined individuals, both providers and lawyers, fighting to keep clinics open. In the process, she introduces the stories of women who need their help, revealing the often complicated circumstances surrounding this personal choice. At once intimate and urgent, Trapped is a powerful declaration of a woman’s right to choose. ST
