Although quite young, Russia’s capitalistic system already has an all-too-familiar hallmark: the effort of extreme poverty on those not fortunate enough to share the wealth. This absorbing and heartbreaking short looks at Russian children who have run away from oppressive home lives and onto the streets of Russia’s strange new world, a place more Dickensian than Westerners may like to admit. The children are followed from their deportation from Moscow to relocation in their home villages.
