You See Me Laughin’

NEW DOCS

At one point in this documentary, record executive Andy Kauklin states that “blues and punk rock ain’t all that much different”—the musicians are “highly individualized people who don’t give a f—.” Indeed, the raw guitar licks in this film are delivered by players less concerned with musical precision than with emotional punch. You See Me Laughin’ finds the recording artists for Mississippi’s acclaimed “Fat Possum Records” as they talk about music, sex, booze, violence, musical butter knives and double-bills with Iggy Pop. More importantly, this film offers some powerful performances by “the last of the hill country bluesman.” A must hear for fans of blues, folk, and rock music.  TAW
