Year of the Bull provides a powerful, even disturbing, inside look at high school football in America. Following Miami Northwestern High School’s Bulls through their entire 2001 football season, there is the good and bad, the highs and lows, of contemporary pre-collegiate sports. For many of these high school players, including Taurean Charles, Miami Northwestern’s preseason All-American linebacker, gridiron success can potentially carry them out of the inner city and into the limelight—but failure can almost feel like death itself.
